This new development is based on a very precise low-friction scissor mechanism made out of firm stainless steel, which transfers lifting motions in absolute linearity onto a conductive plastic potentiometer in a conversion ratio of i = 4.5.
An electronic linearization of the measurement signal or by means of calculation is completely unnecessary. The mere potentiometric measuring method only has a low current consumption and can be operated at a voltage of 0.1V.
The S-Track realizes absolute path measurements in high resolution. It exactly matches existing applications in its size, centre of gravity, and weight and thus is easily exchangeable without changing the physical features of the crash test-dummy. The sensor can be calibrated very easily with existing equipment.
