Latest Oxygen 8.2 Update
A new series of industrial accelerometers has been introduced, offering engineers and maintenance professionals a robust solution for vibration monitoring, condition monitoring, and machinery diagnostics in challenging industrial environments.
The KS85 Series expands upon an established industrial accelerometer platform with new variants featuring a radial M12 connector outlet positioned at right angles to the mounting axis. This design provides greater installation flexibility while maintaining high measurement performance and durability.
Available in 11g, 60g, and 600g measurement ranges, the KS85 Series combines wide dynamic capability with excellent sensitivity for a broad range of industrial applications. The sensors offer an extended frequency response from 0.3 Hz to 17 kHz, enabling accurate measurement of both low-frequency structural vibrations and high-frequency machine condition indicators.
A key feature of the KS85 design is its innovative mounting arrangement. The accelerometer is installed on a dedicated mounting base and can be rotated through 360 degrees, allowing users to optimise sensor orientation and cable routing during installation. Sensors are available with either 8543M or 8546M mounting bases, each providing different thread configurations to suit various mounting requirements. Additional mounting bases are available as optional accessories.
Designed specifically for industrial environments, the KS85 Series features a fully insulated housing with IP68-rated protection, ensuring reliable operation in dusty, wet, and demanding conditions. The robust construction also provides high resistance to electromagnetic interference, supporting stable and dependable measurements in electrically noisy environments.
Compared with many conventional industrial accelerometers, the KS85 Series offers several notable performance advantages, including an extended frequency range, improved temperature stability, and lower inherent noise levels. These characteristics contribute to more accurate and repeatable vibration measurements across a wide range of operating conditions.
All sensors are supplied with an integrated TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) as standard. This functionality enables automatic sensor identification and configuration, simplifying setup procedures and ensuring reliable channel assignment when used with multi-channel data acquisition systems. The result is faster commissioning and reduced risk of configuration errors when sensors are exchanged or replaced.
The IEPE versions of the accelerometers operate across a temperature range of -40°C to +120°C, making them suitable for a wide variety of industrial monitoring applications. For higher-temperature environments, charge-mode accelerometers are available that can operate at temperatures up to 250°C when used with a suitable charge amplifier.
The product family has also been expanded with the introduction of the KS84B500, providing an 11g measurement range with a high-sensitivity output of 500 mV/g. For applications involving extreme shock measurements, charge-mode accelerometer technology can support measurement ranges of up to 6000g when paired with an appropriate charge amplifier.
With its combination of rugged construction, flexible mounting options, integrated TEDS functionality, and enhanced measurement performance, the KS85 Series provides a versatile solution for modern industrial vibration monitoring and predictive maintenance applications.
