The BSSM run a wide variety of seminars, training courses and examinations for strain measurement systems and techniques.
Please see www.bssm.org for details.
Modal Analysis has been used for many years as a method of understanding structure dynamics in products both large and small. This seminar will provide an introduction to Modal Analysis for engineers who are new to the methods, in addition to providing a great overview for managers and other engineers who find themselves involved in the use of Modal results without fully understanding how they have been produced or what they mean. As with all our technical seminars we will provide a good level of practical insight into setting up and effective completion of Modal testing with hammers and shakers. We will also provide a solid grounding in the theory (at a reasonably easy level) and discuss the variety of applications and how to get the best out of using Modal Analysis. Although ‘Earned Value’ techniques have been around for nearly forty years, British Industry still has not ‘grasped the nettle’ and fully embraced the requirement. Our course clearly explains how ‘Earned Value’ disciplines direct the use of fully integrated, dynamic control systems and concentrate operational and management thoughts and actions to constant recognition and comparison of real progress and costs against plans and budgets, leading to ongoing effective control of work. Everyone working in a design, development, manufacturing, production or construction environment will find this course useful; but those involved in project, programme and risk management will gain major

A successful day! Delegates from a wide variety of industries attended to hear why it is so important to continue with simulation and test for engineering designs.
Case studies showed how easy it is to make assumptions and simplifications in the simulation that have a dramatic effect on the actual results.
