LVDT's offer friction free non-contact position sensing using inductive magnetic coupling. Life and resolution are very high. IP67 and IS versions are available with temperature ranges to 220C.

    Hermetic Connector AC

    The HCA Series LVDTs are tungsten-inert gas (TIG) welded to form a hermetic seal that is impervious to dirt, water, steam and corrosive liquids and vapors. They feature a glass-sealed, MS-type connector, but do not permit through bore operation. (A right angle version, the HCA-RA series, allows the core and core rod to pass through the unit). All exposed surfaces are stainless steel, including the boreliner and connector shell. Units can withstand external pressure up to 1,000 psi (70 bars). Double magnetic shielding resists external magnetic influences. Standard options include metric or guided core, radiation resistance to 10 x 7 gamma, small diameter core. Legacy brand is Schaevitz or Lucas Schaevitz.

    The MHR Series AC LVDTs provide precision measurements in space restrictive applications. With a diameter of just 9.5mm (3/8 inch), stroke lenghs +/- 0.13mm to 50mm and an extremely lightweight core, the MHR Series is ideal for applications where excessive core weight could influence the motion of the measurand; with less inertia, accurate measurements at higher  displacement speeds are easier to achieve.     Subminiature small stroke AC

    The XS-B Series of subminiature AC LVDTs are specifically designed for micro applications, where small physical size is the prime requirement. Featuring an extremely low core weight, the XS-B Series is the perfect choice for high speed displacement measurements, measurement of delicate materials and films, or where heavier cores would influence the measurement result. The XS-B Series is available in stroke ranges of ±2.54mm (+/-0.1inch) or ±6.35mm (0.25 inch), standard or threaded mounting configurations, and in flying lead or polyurethane jacketed lead termination (all model dependent). All models incorporate a ferromagnetic stainless steel housing providing electromagnetic and electrostatic shielding. Operating temperature -55 to 150 degrees C, however bulkhead threaded mount version is lower in design temperature. Legacy brand name Schaevitz, or Lucas Schaevitz.

    Hermetically Sealed DC LVDT

    The HCD Series hermetically sealed DC operated LVDTs are the perfect choice for high performance measurements in environments containing moisture, dirt, and fluid contaminants. Operating on a nominal ±15VDC supply, these heavy-duty LVDTs deliver an extremely linear, low noise, yet high frequency response ±10VDC output.

    The integral electrical connector (welded, glass-sealed MS type) provides for easy installation and allows replacing a damaged cable without sacrificing the sensor.

    The HCD is available in stroke ranges of ±0.05 inch [±1.27mm] up to ±10 inches [±254mm], and with a number of standard options including imperial or metric threaded core, guided core and captive core.
    Like in most of our LVDTs, the HCD windings are vacuum impregnated with a specially formulated, high temperature, flexible resin, and the coil assembly is potted inside its housing with a two-component epoxy. This provides excellent protection against hostile environments such as high vibration and shock.

    Captive core option: The HCD features an optional captive core design (available for most models) that greatly simplifies installation. The core rod and bearing assembly includes a Bronze bearing on the front end for self-alignment, while a PTFE sleeve allows low-friction travel through the stainless steel boreliner (spool tube). The core rod and the bearing assembly are both field serviceable.

    HCA-RA right angle series AC LVDTs are tungsten-inert gas (TIG) welded for hermetic sealing with an easy to install radial connector termination. A design improvement to the standard HCA series, the HCA-RA has a through bore design and a right angle connection for applications where product length is an issue. The HCA-RA series can withstand up to 1000psi of external pressure. The through bore design stops debris from being trapped inside the body. The HCA-RA radial connector mount saves space not only in the unit length, but also in the mating connector and cable bending radius.Options include metric or captive cores, mild radiation resistance, 220 Deg C (standard is 150 Deg C). Mounting blocks, core connecting roads and signal conditioners are all available. Legacy brand name Schaevitz or Lucas Schaevitz.

    The DC-EC series is an extremely linear, low noise yet high frequency DC LVDT with stroke lengths 1.25mm to 250mm. Supply is nominal +/- 15 volts with +/- 10 volt output for general purpose use. High tolerance to vibration, shock and EMC, design temperature -55 to 95 Deg C. Options include captive core for easy installation, core connecting rods, mounting blocks and signal conditioners.     The XS-D Series is particularly well suited for measuring relatively large displacements, but where installation space is limited. The XS–D has a substantially greater displacement range than standard LVDTs but without the accompanying increase in body length and weight. Special winding techniques permit linear range measurements up to 80 percent of the XS–D’s housing length. Design temperature -55 to 150 Deg C, high vibration and shock resistance.     General Purpose uni-polar DC

    The DC-SE general purpose series -25 to 85 Deg C, operate on a single ended power supply 8.5 to 28VDC providing 0 to 5V or +1 to 6V output.  The output is also single ended over the full range displacement of the LVDT making the unit compatible with unipolar inputs on analog-to-digital converters and programmable logic controllers, etc. This is a low power consumption device suitable for battery powered applications, very linear performance and low noise. Ranges are available 2.5 to 150mm, options include metric or small diameter or guided cores, and mounting block, core connecting rods and signal conditioner accessories.     The HR Series general purpose LVDTs provide the optimum performance required for a majority of applications. The large 1/16 inch [1.6mm] bore-to-core radial clearance provides for ample installation misalignments and therefore reduces the application costs. Featuring a high output voltage and a broad operating frequency range, these versatile and highly reliable LVDTs deliver worry-free and precise position measurements.

    Available in a variety of stroke ranges from ±0.05 to ±10 inches, the HR Series can be configured with a number of standard options including guided core, small diameter/low mass core. High temperature (200ºC) operation and Mild Radiation Resistance versions are also available (consult factory). The HR Series is compatible with the full line of Measurement Specialties LVDT signal conditioners.

    High pressure sealed AC

    The XS-C Series, stroke lengths 6 to 25mm,  satisfies those applications involving measurement and control in pressure-sealed chambers, e.g., hydraulic actuators and pressure vessels where bulkhead mounting is permitted. It is a sealed, heavy-walled LVDT suitable for operating pressures up to 210 bar (3000 psi), and proof pressures up to 315 bar (4500 psi), design temperature -55 to 150 Deg C. The XS–C’s TIG-welded stainless steel housing is highly resistant to corrosive environments. Internal magnetic and electrostatic shielding render the XS–C insensitive to external magnetic influences.

    The LCIT series DC LVDT is based on a patented linear position sensor design that features all of the benefits of current LVDT inductive technology, but at a significantly lower cost. Supply voltage 7 to 36 VDC with output of 0.5 to 4.5 VDC. Operating temperature of -25 to 85 Degree C, and frequency response up to 1 kHz.     The MHR-T Series LVDTs are a variant of the legendary MHR Series. The MHR-T Series provide precision measurements in space restrictive applications at temperatures up to 392°F [200°C] continuous.


    With a diameter of just 3/8 inch [9.5mm], and an extremely lightweight core, the MHR-T Series is ideal for applications where excessive core weight could influence the motion of the measurand; with less inertia, accurate measurements at higher displacement speeds are easier to achieve. The lightweight core also reduces mechanical stresses and helps preserve the structural integrity of the core actuation assembly.


    The high output sensitivity resulting from the close electrical coupling between the coil and core provides ample signal for interfacing with practically all signal conditioners and conditioning circuits. The magnetic stainless steel housing provides electromagnetic and electrostatic shielding.


    Available in a variety of stroke ranges from ±0.025 to ±1 inch, the MHR-T is compatible with the full line of Measurement Specialties LVDT signal conditioners.
